If you’re a friend of mine, then you know about Old Dog Haven.
What you may not know is that over the years, the census of ODH dogs has changed to almost exclusively unadoptable dogs that will stay in permanent care for the remainder of their lives with ODH covering all veterinary and medication costs – our Final Refuge dogs. Here are the numbers: Currently ODH has over 320 Final Refuge dogs in almost 250 foster homes, running veterinary expenses of over $90,000 per month. ODH is funded solely by public donations, which is why the Walk for Old Dogs is so important.
Occasionally ODH takes senior dogs that become adoptable after oftentimes extensive medical or surgical treatment. ODH does assist shelters and the public in promoting and placing their senior dogs. All of these adoptable dogs are featured on the website and facebook page.
